I bought this from the original owner, who got it as a Christmas gift in 1961 or 62. This is all original condition, including the original Sears tires. No repainting or touchups anywhere. I lovingly disassembled the bike and cleaned up each part individually. Pitted rust spots have been removed off all chrome, then polished. The frame has been thoroughly washed and a coat of carnuba wax applied. Tires have been scrubbed clean. The only modification I did was paint white lettering on the tires, to accentuate the awesome vintage Sears Crusader raised lettering on the rubber. Seat and handle grips scrubbed as clean as I can get them. Spokes were tightened, and oil was deposited into the bearings and on the chain. She rides like new! The accessories of the rack and light were included when I purchased it, and were add-on accessories from Sears. The light holds two D cell batteries. The rear rim has a red band on the center of the rear hub, which they started doing in 1961.
One picture shown is when I first got the bike and aired up the tires (dirty barn find). It was advertised in a Sears Wishbook as the "Racy Sport Model" 4593 24 inch size with regular Bendix Coaster Brake.
This could be one of the nicest J.C. Higgins bikes you'll find with all original parts. Take a close look at the pictures. I could ship it, but it could be expensive as I will hand it to a shipping company to professionally pack and ship. I could also drive up to 2 hours from Chicago to meet you.
