This sale is for a rare piece of Corvette automobilia. In 1993, to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Corvette, a video tape was produced by Creative Video Images. This was packaged in a quality wood case lined with red felt and engraved wood carvings on the top of a 1953 and a 1993 Corvette. A brass plaque was put on the side with the limited edition numbering of the run; this is number 3693 of 5393 and dated 6/01/93. The video tape then had a label put on it that Zora Arkus-Duntov signed and numbered; he actually signed it as Zora Duntov. The inside cover then has a Certificate of Authenticity of the autograph session signed by two representatives of CVI. Overall good shape. Box has a couple of nicks on the top; see pictures for details. Video tape is untested, but looks like it'll play great!

Zora Arkus-Duntov is credited for making the Corvette into the iconic American sports car as we know it today. Shortly after his hiring at General Motors, he sent an attention grabbing memo to his bosses discussing the movement of hot rods with the younger generation, and how the new 1953 Corvette (designed by Harley Earl) should be a fast and powerful car to compete with Mercedes and Ferrari. He was instrumental in introducing the V8 into the 1955 Vette, and fuel injection into 1957 Chevy cars. He is also credited for introducing the first mass produced American car with 4 wheel disc brakes. Duntov made custom Corvettes that he used to win races, promoting the reliability, power, and glory of this American made sports car. After many years of service to General Motors and this iconic car, he retired from his job as Chief Designer of the Corvette in 1975, and remained active in the Corvette community until his death in Detroit in 1996.
