Tootsietoy, Chicago
Tootsietoy is claimed to be America's oldest toy company, with roots starting in 1890 when the founders were making buttons and cuff links for the laundry business. The first toys came out in 1909, and the name was originated around 1920 after the granddaughter of one of the founders, "Toots." The toy cars were made to be simple, with only 7 parts- the body, 4 wheels, and 2 axles made after various cars and trucks in production. The factory was located at 600 N. Pulaski in Chicago, and is still there. The company is under a larger toy company umbrella now, but still continues to put the name on a variety of toys today.
